A Practical Go-to-Market Checklist for New Startups
The decisions to validate before adding more channels, campaigns or complexity.
Growth problems often appear as a request for more marketing, a new website or a new tool. A useful diagnosis begins one level earlier: what changed, where does the journey break, and what evidence supports that conclusion?
Start with the visible symptom
Write the problem in observable language. “Leads are poor” is a conclusion. “Twenty enquiries arrived last month, six received a response within one hour and two reached a discovery call” is evidence the team can investigate.
Map the complete journey
- Define where attention comes from.
- Record what prospects see and expect.
- Measure response, ownership and follow-up.
- Trace the decision and the reasons opportunities stop.
- Review delivery, continuity and repeat behavior.
Separate constraints from noise
A constraint limits the whole system. Improving a non-constraint may increase activity without improving the commercial result. Prioritize the issue with the strongest evidence, largest consequence and clearest path to learning.
Build a useful baseline
Choose a small set of measures the team can collect consistently: response time, qualified rate, stage conversion, lost reason, repeat purchase or appointment continuity. The right metric depends on the decision—not on what a dashboard happens to provide.
What to do next
Run the diagnosis before selecting a service. FRIMROOT can help map the journey, identify the priority and build the connected system around it.
